Sports Massage

Massage is recognised as being one of the oldest methods of therapeutic healing for the body, which dates back over 4,000 years.

As the name states it is a style of massage that originated from the world of sport, and its great results-driven approach has made it an essential as part of many peoples lives. Sports Massage Therapy involves the deep manual manipulation of your soft tissue structures (including the skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments) to help relieve tension that can build up after physical activity and day-to-day life.

Here at The Physio and Sports Injury Clinic in Rhos on Sea, we know how to give great Sports Massages.
Let our expert therapist get you feeling looser, less stressed and ready for action. All you have to do is pick the length of appointment you’d like (1/2 or full hour) & we’ll do the rest! Prices start from £40.

Sports Massage Frequently asked questions

  • The main difference between ‘normal’ relaxing massage and Sports Massage is the pressure and how deep your therapist will press. A sports massage is usually delivered by a therapist with a lot more training about the human body than in a Spa setting. Here at the clinic Oliver is also a Sports Physiotherapist too (so he has double experience).

  • No, Sports massage is not intended to hurt. It’s a bit of a myth that unless is does hurt it has not worked, but there is no research to back that up. Here at the clinic we try and gauge a pressure which is beneficial but not painful. Mild discomfort maybe felt at times only to reach the desired outcome.

  • Massage Therapy is NOT just for sports people - FACT! Everyone can benefit from Massage Therapy too, as its a great way to relax sore, tight or knotted muscles. Whether you sit at a desk all day or you drive for a living, Massage can help enormously.

It has been clinically proven to help reduce stress/anxiety and to help you relax and sleep better from the busy lifestyles we all seem to live!

  • YES! Massage has so many benefits for anyone sporty. As the name states it is a style of massage that originated from the world of sport, and its great results-driven approach has made it an essential as part of many athlete’s training & recovery plans.

Any serious athlete will tell you that if you exercise hard and also compete in a sport you should 100% be getting regular Sports Massages too. There’s no better way to ease tired and sore muscles, improve recovery time and prevent DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). Foam rollers & massage guns are just not as good compared to a proper deep tissue massage!

  • There is no set answer to this as everyone is different. In our experience the more you do then the more Sports Massage is needed.

What’s best is not to wait until something gets bad before seeking help. If you keep on top of niggles then they don’t need as much treatment as something chronic? (Treat it like brushing your teeth!!)

We offer a range of sessions to suit you. Get in touch -here- to find out more about Sports Massage sessions with us.
